bluehost vs godaddy

Whether you're just getting started or looking to move your website elsewhere, Bluehost vs GoDaddy definitely is among the top choices.

No wonder why - both GoDaddy and Bluehost are the leaders of the industry and choosing one is not easy.

That is why we compared all these two excellent hosts have to offer. So which one wins: Bluehost vs GoDaddy?

Let's find out.

What is Bluehost?

Bluehost is one of the biggest hosting providers in the industry. Even more, it's one of the few hosts recommended by the WordPress creators - biggest content management software you will find.

Bluehost offers shared, WordPress, VPS, and dedicated hosting packages. It claims to offer the best quality for an affordable price.

Bluehost aims to make professional hosting easy - a bunch of one-click installations and a team managing the whole platform. This way, you can take care of your website design and content, rather than fixing technical issues.

What is GoDaddy?

GoDaddy is the biggest hosting provider at the moment. Focusing on all kinds of users - from freelancers and small business to enterprises, GoDaddy offers a number of services: shared, WordPress, VPS, reseller, and dedicated hosting for Linux and Windows.

It also sells domains and has packages for email hosting, marketing, and website building.

GoDaddy aims to provide necessary to launch your website - it offers one-click installations and how-to guides. But more importantly, it provides you with the flexible scalability options for the time you grow.

Bluehost vs GoDaddy: Features Compared

Both Bluehost and GoDaddy have a number of features to be proud of. But seemingly - the hosts are not too different. Both of them focus on user experience, performance, and growth.

However, we compared performance, pricing, security, and support to see which one wins.

Bluehost vs GoDaddy pricing: GoDaddy is cheap and Bluehost is cheaper

Both hosts are incredibly competitive in their pricing structures. GoDaddy rates start at $5.99 a month and Bluehost stoops even lower to a dazzling $2.95 a month. Additionally, both frequently offer promotional prices and limited-time deals that depress the prices and impress users even more.

But what you get for the price is more important.

With Bluehost cheapest plan starting at $2.95/month, you get 1 website, 1 domain name registration, 50GB storage, SSL certificate, and unmetered bandwidth.

GoDaddy plan for $5.99/month will get you 1 website, 1 domain, 100GB storage, and unmetered bandwidth. SSL, unfortunately, costs extra.

Bluehost vs GoDaddy: GoDaddy pricing

There's one more thing we need to discuss. After the initial first term, prices go up both with Bluehost and GoDaddy.

Bluehost $2.95/month becomes $7.99/month. That evens out the difference as GoDaddy's $5.99/month increases to $7.99/month as well.

But when it comes to the total cost - Bluehost is still a winner as you get a very cheap first term pricing.

Bluehost vs GoDaddy performance: GoDaddy is faster

Both GoDaddy and Bluehost promise 99.9% uptime and excellent server speed. But GoDaddy performance is simply better. When compared to Bluehost, GoDaddy was both faster and more reliable, while Bluehost was not bad, but its performance was on the poorer side.

During our testing, GoDaddy averaged at 99.99% uptime which is even better than their guarantee. Its server response time was also excellent - it averaged at 375ms, which is just a bit slower than the blink of an eye (200ms) and a lot better than the industry average of 553ms.

Bluehost results were a bit worse with 99.96% uptime (still better than their guarantee) and slower response time of 634ms.

Performance is one of the key things to look at when choosing a host. So in this case, GoDaddy wins both with better response times and better uptime.

GoDaddy vs Bluehost security features

Bluehost has more security features included - it provides a Cloudflare content delivery network (CDN) with all of its plans to protect uptime, make websites load faster, and more secure. It also includes free SSL certificates. GoDaddy protects and monitors each hosted website against DDoS attacks.

Other things you've got to purchase yourself.

Daily automated backups both with GoDaddy and Bluehost cost $2.99/month. So you can't go wrong here.

However, you'll also need to purchase an SSL certificate with GoDaddy for $6.67/month, which is otherwise free with Bluehost and many other providers.

Extra security features with Bluehost cost $1.99/month while GoDaddy sells them at $5.59/month.

All in all, both Bluehost and GoDaddy are secure. However, Bluehost wins this one - it does include SSL and CDN so your website comes protected already. GoDaddy offers security not only at more expensive rates, but it also does not include an essential SSL certificate.

Bluehost vs GoDaddy support: Bluehost is better

Support is one of the reasons why WordPress is not afraid of recommending Bluehost to its users. The provider has 24/7 phone, chat, and ticket support replying instantly. GoDaddy has the same support options, but unfortunately, its reputation is worse.

Bluehost employs and trains its support agents so they can help with each and every problem. And it seems the support team is doing that with smiles on their faces - always polite and friendly.

Bluehost vs GoDaddy: Bluehost support

GoDaddy, on the other hand, had its ups and downs in terms of support. Although the same phone, chat, and ticket support options are available 24/7, agents are not as fast to respond.

Bluehost vs GoDaddy: GoDaddy support

You'll also often hear "I have to ask my manager" from GoDaddy. And while they are polite, it seems that the hosting giant GoDaddy needs a few more employees to handle the clients.

Both hosts have excellent support options. Bluehost is just faster and more helpful than GoDaddy.

Bluehost vs GoDaddy -  We Have an Obvious Winner

Bluehost is our clear winner of the Bluehost vs GoDaddy comparison. The provider has more affordable pricing and more features included already. Bluehost support is also one step further than GoDaddy's. On the other hand, GoDaddy wins at the performance. And that is one of the key features to consider.

After all, you won't regret either of the hosts - both GoDaddy and Bluehost offer highest quality services. And that's the reason they are among the hosting industry leaders.
