Whether you’re a startup, a large business, or you just have a lot of files on your computer - you know the importance of having enough space to store everything. Unfortunately, while external hard drives are becoming more capable of holding large amounts of data, information from them can be difficult to access and storage in them is limited.

This is where unlimited cloud storage solutions can help.

Keeping your data secure, easily accessible, and giving you unlimited resources, unlimited cloud storage solutions are perfect for businesses and individuals looking for ease of use and freedom.

Here are the 5 best unlimited cloud storage providers:

1. OpenDrive

Price: $9.95/month (for unlimited storage)

Recommended for: Home & business users who want to share files with others.

Whatever files you want to store, they can be as large as you want. Plus, each paid plan comes with auto syncing and backup so you can be sure that all of your cloud files are secure.

While almost all plans come with unlimited storage, the Personal, Business and Reseller plans also come with unlimited bandwidth. Plus, you can create the project and task lists as well as leave comments and sub comments on files – a helpful tool when collaborating on projects.

What makes OpenDrive stand out is its affordable subscriptions. Unlike other solutions in this list, the Personal Unlimited plan costs $9.95 a month per user, or you can opt for the Custom plan which costs $5 a month per user  although this comes with fewer features.

Alternatively, the Business and Reseller plans cost $29.95 and $59.95 a month per user and are specifically designed for business clients.

PROS

  • Unlimited storage and bandwidth
  • Opportunity to individually encrypt files
  • Project management features available
  • A variety of personal and business plans

While you can only get unlimited storage with the Advanced plan, this subscription gives you everything from the standard plan, including 256-bit AES encryption for all your files, two-factor authentication, and remote device wipe. All in all, it’s the perfect solution for businesses wanting to keep their files as safe as possible.

In addition to the security features above, you’ll also have access to advanced admin controls - a great tool if you’re managing multiple projects and a larger team. Additionally, the Advanced plan is great if you need to send folders to clients on a regular basis.

Thanks to the Dropbox Showcase feature, you can make your folders look more professional with branded pages while also getting a better view of which files your clients engage with the most.

While Dropbox is usually slightly more expensive than competitors, its Advanced business plan is reasonably priced at $20 a month per user. This plan also gives you access to Dropbox Paper (a collaborative document-editing service for teams) which will help you keep your company in sync. Plus, the plan comes with an account transfer tool so that you can easily transfer files from one user to another if there is a shift in responsibilities.

  • Strong security features
  • Dropbox Showcase adds a level of professionalism to folders
  • Advanced admin controls

CONS

  • Only one plan comes with unlimited storage

3. Box

Price: from $15/month (for unlimited storage)

Recommended for: Healthcare businesses.

best unlimited cloud storage Box landing pageWhen it comes to Box, there are two unlimited plans for you to choose from. Both of these are a part of the company’s business services and they come with SSL and at-rest encryption as well as two-factor authentication for added security. Additionally, both these plans give you full control over your folders thanks to a full user activity tracking feature as well as full content visibility and management.

Aside from its enterprise-grade security, Box allows all team members to edit, share, and comment on work from any device they like thanks to the solution’s individual applications. However, what I like most about Box is that its Enterprise plan is designed for healthcare professionals.

This is because Box allows you to remain HIPAA/HITECH-compliant while using its services. It also comes with other frictionless tools designed for the most regulated industries as well as data residency in 9 countries. However, this is a great unlimited cloud storage solution even if you're not in a medical field.

Box offers two plans that come with unlimited storage space. You can choose between the Business and Business Plus subscriptions which cost $15 and $25 a month per user, respectively. Both of these plans allow you to upload files of up to 5GB large and you can add as many users as you like. You can also contact the company directly for more information on its Enterprise plan.

PROS

  • Full content management
  • Opportunity to collaborate on files
  • Ensures HIPAA/HITECH compliance

CONS

  • More expensive than other solutions
  • Very business-focused

4. LiveDrive

Price: from $8/month (for unlimited storage)

Recommended for: Small businesses and personal use.

If you’re looking for a cloud backup solution with unlimited storage for your family, household, or small business, LiveDrive could be your best bet.

The solution offers unlimited cloud backup storage for 5 PC or Mac user accounts. Not only this, the company keeps a copy of your files safe in its UK data centers so that you can easily restore your device if you lose or break it.

Additionally, LiveDrive comes with a Briefcase feature which allows you to view and edit your files from any computer, mobile, or tablet, while on the go. Also, you can create team folders which allow you and your colleagues to collaborate on your files in complete privacy without the need to send large email attachments.

The Backup plan allows you to store files from one computer and costs $8 a month. On the other hand, the Pro Suite account costs $25 a month and is better suited for small businesses and families because it allows you to backup 5 computers, tablets, and mobiles.

It also gives you 5TB of Briefcase storage to view and edit files while on the go.

5. Backblaze

Price: $5/month (for unlimited storage)

Recommended for: Users with external hard disks.

best unlimited cloud storage Backblaze homepageBackblaze is a cloud backup solution that comes with unlimited storage and allows you to store files of any size.

That said, what makes the solution truly unique is that you can backup all your external hard drives as well. All you have to do is connect your disk to your computer and the solution does the rest for you.

Additionally, Backblaze recently enabled two-factor authentication so that you can add an extra layer of security to all your most important folders. For extra precaution, you can also add a personal key that even Backblaze itself won’t know.

The company promises to store all your data securely in its data centers which are staffed 24/7. There is one catch though – Backblaze data centers are only in Sacramento, California, meaning transfer speeds will be slower for international clients.

Unlike other solutions, Backblaze only has one pricing plan which costs $5 a month. However, Backblaze charges customers differently than other solutions. Instead of charging per user, the service charges per computer. This means that for every computer you use Backblaze on, you’ll have to pay an additional $5 a month.

PROS

  • Backs up external hard disks
  • Affordable plan for single users
  • A personal key feature for added security
  • 15-day free trial

CONS

  • Expensive for multi-computer use
  • Slower transfer speeds for non-US-based clients
  • No data encryption

So, Which is the Best Unlimited Cloud Storage?

The first step to choosing the best unlimited cloud storage is to establish whether you need it for business or personal use. From there, it will depend completely on your budget and individual requirements. Here’s my verdict:

  • OpenDrive is the best option if you want to share files with others;
  • Dropbox is the best option for larger businesses and enterprises;
  • Box is best for healthcare professionals because it is HIPAA-compliant;
  • LiveDrive is best for families and small businesses needing to backup files from up to five devices;
  • Backblaze is best if you have numerous hard disks you want to store in the cloud;

Before making your final choice, make sure to consider the type of files you need to back up. If they contain sensitive data, be sure to choose the solution with the best security features. And if you care more about accessibility, make sure your storage provider has a media player and an application for the devices that you're using.

    I subscribed to backblaze and canceled my subscription today exactly because the very slow upload rates, since I live in Brazil. I got 10x faster upload speeds to almost every other cloud solution (OneDrive, Google Drive, etc) and the speed to backblaze servers was caped at 10Mbps speed, even if my upload rates are capable to sustain 100Mbps. It’s sad, since I liked the client and web interface, and company history.
