Directnic is a Louisiana-based hosting company, offering simple hosting solutions, that are supposed to make getting online as easy as possible.
In this Directnic review, we'll have a look at how good this provider really is - and see if it's a good option for you to host your website in.
What is Directnic Hosting?
Directnic is a self-proclaimed gathering of geeks, historians, sportsmen, world travelers, and so on. But most importantly - they're a web hosting company, offering several services, fit for personal users and small businesses.
Here's what those services and products are:
- Web Hosting
- Email Hosting
- Website Builder
- SSL Certificates
- WHOIS Privacy
Offering only one type of hosting - shared - Directnic completely ignores all the bigger enterprise clients. Instead, all of the focus is on personal users. So, in this Directnic review, we'll test out its shared hosting services to see how they stack up against the competition.
Directnic has 3 hosting plans - Lite that costs $2.48/month, Pro that costs $4.48/month, and Deluxe that is going to set you back $7.98/month.
Here's what those plans are going to get you:
Lite Plan – $2.48 per month, 5 GB of disk space, 100GB data transfer, 50 POP3 emails, 10 MYSQL databases, 3 FTP accounts, up to 3 hosted domains & up to 50 subdomains.
Pro Plan – $4.48 per month, 100GB disk space, 1000GB data transfer, 100 POP3 emails, 50 MYSQL databases, 5 FTP accounts, up to 15 hosted domains, up to 150 subdomains.
Deluxe Plan – $7.98 per month, 200GB disk space, 2000GB data transfer, 250 POP3 emails, 10 FTP accounts, up to 30 hosted domains, up to 250 subdomains.
If you need a lot of resources, the Deluxe plan is obviously the way to go - but $7.98 is more than many people want to pay.
Especially considering that these prices will only be valid if you commit for a long-term contract and pay upfront for at least 12 months.
The real monthly prices for the plans are as follows - $4.95/month for Lite, $8.95 for Pro, and $15.95 for Deluxe.
Plans in More Detail
Now, since we know the prices, in this part of the Directnic review we'll have a look at the plans in more detail. Let's see what exactly do you get for your money.
|Money-back guarantee||30 days||30 days||30 days|
|Customer support||Live Chat, Phone||Live Chat, Phone||Live Chat, Phone|
As you can see, each of the plans has its limitations - there are no "unlimited" resources anywhere. But really, that's a positive thing. No hosting provider actually offers you unlimited anything, Directnic simply offers transparent limits.
Directnic has a few good things going on for itself. In this part of the Directnic review, I'll cover some of the things I really liked about this host.
A Great Website Builder Included
With each of the plans, you'll get free access to Weebly - one of our highest-rated website builders. If you are not experienced in website development, this drag-and-drop solution may be a great place to start. is a great website builder, so if you want to make your website from scratch, it's a good way to begin.
Great Customer Support
Directnic customer support is pretty good. Live chat, email, and tickets are available 24/7, and phone support is available from 8 AM to 6 PM CST. And in all of these platforms, I've received the same high quality of customer support. The representatives were helpful and knowledgeable, the way they should be.
Directnic offers a 99.9% uptime guarantee - and that's actually no good at all. Luckily, in reality, Directnic performs much better than that, with uptime much closer to the 99.99% mark.
While not the fastest in the market, Directnic shared hosting plan showed great results. We used Bitcatcha to test the server response times around the world, and the results were more than just adequate.
Our website got an overall score of A in performance, with speeds in the USA and Canada being below 100ms. And even Asia and Europe locations responded pretty quick.
Next, we used GTmetrix to test the real loading times of our website with the default WordPress theme. The optimization part wasn't perfect, scoring C (78%) in PageSpeed and D (66%) in the Yslow score. So there is room to improve here.
But our website fully loaded in just 1.2 seconds. Page size and loading time ratio shows us that even with a larger website you can expect great loading times.
But like every hosting provider, Directnic also has some flaws. These are the things I didn't like about Directnic:
Pricing Is A Bit Too High
There are plenty of cheap web hosting providers that combine low prices and high quality of services. Now here's the deal - Directnic charges quite a lot but doesn't offer that much. The 3 plans cost $4.95, $8.95, and $15.95 respectively when paying monthly. And for that money, you can get a better service.
Directnic Review – Final Thoughts
Overall, Directnic is a simple, straightforward hosting provider, but it lacks the killer edge to really be the best in the business. Reliable servers and the addition of a Weebly website builder are both great things - but server performance and pricing need to be tweaked in order to achieve better results.
So, that's the end of my Directnic review - hope it helped to shed some light on this hosting provider.
- Weebly website builder included
- Reliable servers
- Good customer support
- Decent performance
- Pretty expensive
