Directinc is a USA based company with a principal office in Louisiana. On “Company info” page they describe themselves as the gathering of self-proclaimed geeks, historians, sportsmen, world travelers and the list goes on and on. Their proud motto is “We will not sell you products that you don’t need” and their true name is DNC Holdings, INC, but they are doing business as Directnic hosting since it makes more sense to customers. In my Directnic review, I’ll examine if the customers should see them not only as a colorful gathering but also as a serious hosting competitor.
Services Offered By Directnic
Directinc has a pretty wide selection of products:
With so many offerings, it would make sense that they are an easy choice so you can get all of your needs in one stop, right? Not necessarily. Let’s continue with this Directinc review with a focus on shared hosting to find out.
Directnic Pricing & Plans
Let’s look at pricing and plans a little closer:
Lite Plan – $2.48 per month, 5 GB of disk space, 100GB data transfer, 50 POP3 emails, 10 MYSQL databases, 3 FTP accounts, up to 3 hosted domains & up to 50 subdomains.
Pro Plan – $4.48 per month, 100GB disk space, 1000GB data transfer, 100 POP3 emails, 50 MYSQL databases, 5 FTP accounts, up to 15 hosted domains, up to 150 subdomains.
Deluxe Plan – $7.98 per month, 200GB disk space, 2000GB data transfer, 250 POP3 emails, 10 FTP accounts, up to 30 hosted domains, up to 250 subdomains.
If you need a lot of hosting, the Deluxe plan is obviously the way to go, but $7.98 is more than many people want to pay. If the hosting is top of the line, this might make sense, but if you are getting subpar service, you don’t want to spend that kind of money, right? I feel you…
Actually, stop right there. As we’ve seen with many other hosting providers, there is a caveat. You can only get hosting that inexpensive IF you commit (and pay for upfront) for a year. If you only pay by the month, you have to spend $15.95 per month on your hosting plan. Pro is $8.95 per month if you go month by month and $4.95 per month for the lite plan. There are good hosting providers out there, but this one might not be the best one.
Plans in More Detail
In this part of Directnic review, I will take a look at the hosting plans in more detail. I’ll try to determine if the hosting is good, how it comes up against the competition and which plan might be the right choice for your needs.
After checking the speeds of the hosting provider I saw that they are pretty decent everywhere except Japan And Japan makes sure to bring everyone else down to a D+.
Now that we’ve gone through a lot of the Directnic review, you have more of a picture of what you would get if you used this hosting provider. This US-based company could be one of the good options for you, but let’s list the pros and cons below.
Weebly is a great website builder, so if you want to make your website from scratch, it’s a good way to begin.
Great Customer Support
I used live chat to get answers multiple times and not only was the chat rep knowledgeable, but they were courteous and went out of the way to find ways to get my questions answered. I also called their phone support and was able to be directed rather easily.
Directnic hosting is pretty quick and reliable with a promise of 99.9% uptime which is very important when you want to have a reliable website.
Money Back Guarantee
Their 30-day money back guarantee is a great pro in case you don’t get what you bargained for after you start using the service.
The deluxe plan is a little more pricey than some other hosting providers that are just as reliable. If you’ve fallen in love with Directnic, you might not mind paying a little extra, but if your main goal is to have great hosting, there are other options out there that won’t require you to pay $15+ a month if you want to pay month to month.
SSL Is Not Included
SSL guarantees security and it’s fundamental for your website. If you want to find why it’s really important, check our review about SSL and TLS.
D+ is a bit underwhelming but it’s obvious that Directnic is not an Asia-orientated provider. Although, most of the times response time from Japan is ugly but this time it’s just abysmal.
Complicated For Beginners
For those that are not experienced in web hosting Directi is not easy to use for novices. Not being able to understand your hosting can be a big problem. For those that understand hosting and don’t mind some extra complication, this may not be a total con.
Directnic Review – Final Thoughts
After looking through all the features of Directnic, speaking to customer service and checking site speed, I have decided that while Directnic might be a good option for some people, it is best suited for users that are a little further down the road than beginners.
I also did not like the common pricing trick of getting people to think that hosting is only going to be a couple of dollars per month and then surprising them with a big upfront price if they want to get a good price. Pricing tricks are never a good sign when you’re looking at a hosting provider.
This paragraph brings us to the end of the Directnic review, and now you can decide as to whether or not Directnic is the right hosting provider for you. Now you have all of the information required to make an informed decision so your website can succeed.
