You may not be incredibly familiar with EasyCGI, but it claims to be 'consistently ranked among the top ten web hosting providers worldwide' .
The world-class web hosting provider boasts about cutting edge technology and highly knowledgeable staff. But these are just words. How about the actions? Are they just as good?
I dug deeper in my EasyCGI review to uncover the answers.
My First Impression of EasyCGI
The first time I laid my eyes upon the Easy CGI website, I was struck by its incredibly basic appearance.
The EasyCGI homepage would be to my taste - if instead of an office chair, this morning I would've sat in a time machine headed to 2006.
You can even see Windows 2008 Hosting - The most advanced Windows Server operating system yet advertised on the page. What was the last time this thing got updated?
Although, the rustic simplicity is not necessarily a bad thing, as I also found it to be very easy to find my way around.
So are the uptime promises. With two data centers in total, both within Boston (U.S.), EasyCGI proudly offers a 99.9% uptime guarantee with all packages. After testing a plan myself for 30 days, I found that downtime was indeed above 99.9%.
But what do other customers have to say?
EasyCGI Reviews from Other Customers
I found various comments, but EasyCGI reviews regarding support seemed consistent.
I tried it for myself and can vouch for this, as live chat responses seemed slow even when I asked basic questions.
Very often, however, instead of getting referred to a technician, I got referred to some sort of an article. I assume this might be a bit better to some.
When it comes to pricing, can Easy CGI redeem itself?
At first glance, it seems I might be in luck. The $7.96 plan with 350GB disk space and a 30-day money-back guarantee isn't half bad.
However, further research reveals that it is only $7.96 for the first month.
It then reverts to the full price of $12.95/month. For that price, there are much better options elsewhere with unlimited disk space and bandwidth.
The same goes for the other two plans, as the prices just aren't competitive enough.
Plans in More Detail
|ADVANCED X ($12.95)||ADVANCED X2 ($15.99)||ADVANCED X4 ($21.56)|
|No. of Domains Allowed||Unlimited||Unlimited||Unlimited|
|SSD or HDD||SSD||SSD||SSD|
|Web Builder||Yes - CM4ALL||Yes - CM4ALL||Yes - CM4ALL|
|SSL Certificate Included?||No||No||No|
|Money-Back Guarantee||30-Day Period||30-Day Period||30-Day Period|
Although you get a lot of bandwidth and disk space, plenty of other providers offer unlimited bandwidth and disk space for cheaper prices. But keep in mind that in this instance you'll get fast SSD servers.
While adding a website builder is a nice touch, it's a super underground website builder that no one's heard of. There are literally zero reviews on it readily available.
Overall, I cannot justify paying these prices for something you can get for cheaper elsewhere.
In the realm of speed, there's little good and little bad. It's an average response-time performance from Easy CGI, while Asian response times, in particular, could be improved.
EasyCGI Review - Wrap Up
I have to say that coming into this review when I first began my investigations into EasyCGI, I had pretty high hopes. Remember, this is a company that claims to consistently be ranked among the top 10 best web hosting services in the world.
But remarkably enough, this EasyCGI review says otherwise. It's not that there's anything particularly terrible about the service, but it simply costs way too much for what it's offering.
For anyone seriously looking to run a website or business, I'd advise going elsewhere. There just isn't any point taking a risk with companies like EasyCGI when there are cheaper, better-established options out there.
- 24/7 live chat
- 99.9% uptime guarantee
- Slow support responses
- Only U.S. servers
- Price is a bit too steep
