Heart Internet was established in 2004 and specializes in providing high-speed hosting tailored to the needs of UK customers. From shared hosting, reseller hosting to domain names and servers - this provider offers a lot. Its hosting architecture is cloud-based as well, meaning it uses a more modern system than a lot of the local competitors.
They claim to be a company that evolves to the needs of their customers, but is this really the case? Check out my Heart Internet review to see if it's really a service worth falling head over heels for.
The Heart Internet website is professional. I felt at ease instantly, and credibility was shown from the offset by the awards displayed on their home page.
Most Brits will be familiar with the PC Pro brand which is a big-name tech magazine sold throughout the country. Heart Internet has won its 'Best Web Hosting' award three times.
And, while signing on, I found my experience to be pretty good as well. It was a fairly painless process. There's a 30-day money back guarantee in place, too. So I wasn't too concerned about the consequences of choosing the wrong package - and neither should you.
Do note that plans are billed annually though, so there's a hefty financial penalty if you decide the service isn't right for you and try to cancel it after that 30-day window has ended.
It was immediately clear to me that Heart Internet is a suitable service for advanced users and web hosting beginners alike. To appeal to the tech-savvy crowd, professional level VPS and reseller hosting packages are available, while standard hosting plans include beginner-friendly features like one-click install apps.
Heart Internet also offers a dedicated WordPress hosting plan which provides you with WordPress optimized servers and access to a team of experts who are available 24/7 by phone, live chat or tickets. To see just how 'expert' they really are, I tried calling the customer support team and am happy to report that the person I spoke to evidently had a good grasp on some of the finer points of WordPress troubleshooting.
And you'll get that same customer support access even without a dedicated WordPress plan. Heart Internet also offers Windows servers and traditional Linux hosting packages.
Heart Internet also offers reseller hosting aimed at developers and business owners. The plans start at £41.99/month and, as you'd expect, offers unlimited storage, websites, as well as bandwidth.
Overall, I was initially impressed by their hosting options - they seem to offer a wide range of packages suited to anyone looking for hosting.
Heart Internet Pricing
When it comes to pricing, Heart Internet falls somewhere in the middle. It's not very cheap, but not super expensive either - the Starter Pro plan (£3.99/month) includes 10GB HDD storage and 50GB bandwidth. The Home Pro Plan (£10.99/month) contains 100GB HDD storage and unlimited bandwidth. And finally, the Business Pro plan (£14.99/month) offers unlimited HDD storage and unlimited bandwidth.
Also, while the Starter Pro plan is £3.99 per month, it must be paid annually, and it also has a £10.00 setup fee.
|Starter Pro||Home Pro||Business Pro|
|How many domains allowed?||1||1||3|
|HDD or SSD used in servers?||HDD||HDD||HDD|
|SSL||Not included||Not included||Not included|
|Money-back guarantee||30 Days||30 Days||30 Days|
|Customer support||Live Chat, Phone or Ticket Support||Live Chat, Phone or Ticket Support||Live Chat, Phone or Ticket Support|
|Choice of server location||No – UK Only||No – UK only||No – UK Only|
|Free automated backups||No||No||No|
In my honest opinion, £14.99 per month for the Business Pro package is pretty damn pricey, especially considering that SSL isn't even included.
How Does Heart Internet Perform?
Heart Internet provides excellent speeds. Their website response times were in the exceptional range (0-300ms) for every location except Sydney.
And I must say, my experiences were in line with this.
Heart Internet Review: The Verdict
When I first visited Heart Internet, I was impressed with how many services they offer as well as their highly technical customer support.
Overall, Heart Internet offers great speeds and customer support. However, their shared hosting plans are definitely not wallet-friendly.
While its starter package isn't too expensive, it doesn’t offer a lot comparatively - plus, they make you pay for a year upfront, which may not be ideal for some.
The more expensive plans respectively offer much more, but I have definitely seen similar plans for less money.
So to conclude, you should look elsewhere if you want better value for money! Have your own Heart Internet reviews? Feel free to submit them below!
- Fantastic response times from most locations
- Windows or Linux based hosting
