HostForWeb is a hosting service based in New York. It hosts 2+ million websites and offers many types of hosting - all the way from basic shared to massive dedicated servers, and everything in between. The company's goal is to "provide reliable hosting solutions paired with excellent customer service".
Yes - HostForWeb really talks the talk when it comes to making its customers happy.
But can it walk the walk? Is HostForWeb the 'HostForYou'? Let's try and find out.
HostForWeb Review: First Impressions
The HostForWeb website is easy to navigate with a simple layout and clear explanations of every product. Finding a hosting package and signing up is a quick process.
This straightforward layout is particularly important given the range of hosting types on offer. Besides everyday shared hosting, HostForWeb offers VPS, Dedicated, Reseller, and Cloud hosting.
One area of the site that could do with an update is the knowledge base which, though informative, is difficult to navigate in.
Despite the functionality being completely workable, it's quite important to take both the UX and UI in mind when managing such knowledge bases. And this is what they HostForWeb should've done.
Rapid Response Support
When I had a question about HostForWeb's service, I received an answer in under two minutes.
And this is well under a regular business standard.
Considering that HostForWeb doesn't exactly come across as a business giant with hundreds of service representatives available 24/7, it's nothing short of a brilliant result.
If you're not a fan of getting customer support from a chat, well, no worries.
On top of that, you can also talk to a representative using a phone line, or an advanced ticket support system.
All 3 of those platforms are available to all clients, 24/7 - and that's a great thing too.
Once I signed up, I found the included software and perks really did enhance my hosting experience. All hosting packages include a drag-and-drop site builder and 200 pre-installed apps.
HostForWeb also handles all site migrations free. Rare for a budget host! What's more, I didn't experience any downtime, verifying at least for me that HostForWeb is a reliable provider.
HostForWeb's prices are quite reasonable. Shared hosting begins at $3.95/month and HostForWeb's dedicated servers are cheap for the industry, starting at $69.95/month.
For the most popular shared hosting, there are three tiers available: The $4.17/month Mini plan, the $3.95/month Smart plan and the $12.95/month Business Pro package. The latter two are currently discounted.
Note that these are the annual billing monthly rates.

With the current Smart Plan discounted rate, I can't recommend the Mini package. It's more expensive and comes with bandwidth and storage restrictions.
For personal use, the Smart Plan will be perfectly suitable thanks to the domain registration it includes.
Business users, on the other hand, will find the Business Pro package a better fit because it comes with a private SSL certificate.
That's a must-have if you want visitors to trust your site.
During my HostForWeb review, I tested the response times of my site using Bitcatcha.
The performance wasn't spectacular outside the USA, but that's to be expected as HostForWeb only operates a single New York data center. That being said, if you expect visitors from abroad, invest in a CDN, or consider a different host.
HostForWeb offers decent value for money. Its range of hosting types and plan tiers means it has something to offer no matter what kind of hosting package you're after.
However, I'd recommend international consumers look elsewhere, as they may be let down by HostForWeb's global site load speeds. And looking at the host objectively, you may get better value for money elsewhere. But this is not at all a bad option.
