What is NameHero?

Centered in the USA, NameHero is a cloud-based web hosting service, having two data centers on the West and the East coasts. NameHero is comparatively a newer name in the market - it started in 2015. Since the beginning of its journey, the brand has gained quite the popularity.

And why wouldn’t it? Not every hosting provider company offers Cloudflare, Lite Speed, and other lucrative technological features for the price point. It also has a reseller hosting with the ability to offer 100% white labeled hosting with all the tools you need.

NameHero has 4 pricing plans, the cheapest is $3.95/mo and gives you unlimited SSD storage and bandwidth. The most expensive plan here costs $12.99/mo, it has everything from the lower packages as well as 4GB of RAM. You also get a one-year free domain name with every plan.

The thing to note here is that you have to purchase its services for at least a year if you want to be eligible for a free domain name. The same can be said about overall pricing. If you want that $3.89 price point you will have to buy hosting for 3 years.

The weirdest thing is that both the “Starter” and “Plus” plans can only be bought for one year and up, meaning you can forget the monthly billing option. With “Turbo” and “Business” plans you are free to choose whether you want monthly or yearly billing.

Each NameHero plan has a suggestion for how many visitors your plan is best suited for. The “Business” package is a good choice if your site has up to 100,000 visitors per month.

As a matter of fact, we were quite pleased with the speed and stability of our website. Next, we used GTmetrix to look at our optimization. Our website fully loaded in 1.4 seconds and we got both A's in performance score.

Our website was 5.71MB, to load it fully in 1.4 seconds is quite the accomplishment on its own. But even then, both our server and the website itself were strongly optimized to squeeze that extra speed.

Not everything is that great, as we tested the load times around the world we got a bit more mixed results. While not bad, the load times in Asia were much slower going as high as 552ms. As expected the best speeds were in the USA and Europe.

I had been a client of NameHero's already for a year. Up until then I had little complaint, other than their customer service needed a little work - that is, until my renewal date. First of all, your second year you pay twice what you did the first year which I find to be a bad way to do business to begin with, but I was fine with it because I didn't want to mess with moving my websites to another service. So, when I got an invoice that requested payment from NameHero, I paid it on 8/16. On 8/19, NameHero charged the annual fee again through automatic payment. I contacted them immediately. The man on the phone opened a ticket and said someone would call within 30 minutes. After waiting for 4 hours, I reached out. At this point I was met with no response but a notation of a "credit" to my account that I could use for other NameHero services in the future. A $145 credit when they stole my money! No. So, I contacted PayPal because the payment had gone through them. After filing a claim, PayPal was able to get the ball rolling and somehow, miraculously, the "credit" they issued turned into a refund. After all that anguish I thought, "If I hadn't already paid them, I wish I could cancel and go elsewhere." But, it was exhausting dealing with it, so I figured I'd just suck it up and stay. Fast forward to this morning 8/24. I get an email from NameHero that my services have been suspended due to non-payment - but I had paid them, twice! And they knew I had paid, because we just went through 2 days of communications to get this issue straightened out. I am livid! Now, my websites have been disrupted and I'm trying to get the issue resolved quickly. So far, when I chatted with customer service I was told that the billing issue will be looked at during billing business hours (it was 8:03am EST) with no indication of when those hours are. I attempted to resolve the issue with the man in the chat box, but he wouldn't discuss the issue and kept saying I should reply to the ticket for more help. After I did so, that's when I got an email stating I'd be helped during billing business hours. I still don't have my services or money back after dealing with these issues for 5 days... My recommendation is that no matter what you hear about the web-hosting (which is decent), the customer service is dismal, and at some point there will be an issue. I'm attempting to get a full refund since services were never rendered and switch to someone else because this is absolutely ridiculous for a business to operate in this manner. Avoid them at all costs or they will cost you.

I have been battling for 5-10 days now with them to sort this our their billing system declines my cards one after another service is suspended and no support has been received from their side no investigation whatsoever they have promised to make a PayPal invoice for me to pay through PayPal however that has not been done and they wont unsuspend the service until I can get it paid makes no sense I have sent screen shots of the error and my tickets just get deleted I dont get any support or feedback from NameHero further then this I have logged over 5 tickets regarding the server giving multiple errors from some email accounts not connecting to slow server speeds slow websites but nothing has been resolved from their side I highly reccommend using a professional host instead of Namehero!!!

I have nothing but good things to say about Name Hero. Let's start with the ease of their user interface, implementation with cPanel and seamless SSL certificates. I am able to create and develop with mere clicks of a mouse and the speed, performance and reliability of the backend is not only on par with the big boys - it exceeds them. Support tickets are answered quickly and throughly and I have experienced nothing but professionalism from the staff. Five stars all the way around!

This company has been just terrible for me. Their customer support has been rude and incompetent on several occasions. They were suppose to install something on my server but messed it up completely. I put in a request for a refund and they said it will take up to 30 DAYS to receive it. Who made up this policy??? To make matters worse after the 30 days I still did not receive my refund and had to reach out to them several more times. And even after that I only got a partial refund so I had to reach out to them once again! So as I write this it is coming up on 40 DAYS and I am still waiting on a refund.

    NameHero as a company has done a full 180 in my eyes. I had very high regards for them and their team, but after threats and bullying from their management all this has changed. I had a terrible experience when it came to their service, and promptly asked for a cancellation and refund. That refund did not come until a month later and it was a partial one at that. I wrote a honest review about my experience and I had moved on. But they decided they did not like my review, so what do they do? Send me threatening letters about suing me if I dont retract my statements. They have contacted review sites and lied about my motives of the reviews and tried to have them flagged. This is bullying at it its finest and they should be avoided all together. And as far as your threats NameHero, we are fully prepared to present are case if you continue this harassment.

      Hey Darrius, Before I address this, I think it's important to disclose you actually own an established web hosting company called ClockBackIn.com, with according to your website, 3,245 registered domains, 281 happy clients, and 4,185 websites hosted (https://www.dropbox.com/s/8zr53glf8wmhr5x/Screenshot%202019-04-16%2013.24.42.png?dl=0). Your servers also reside in LiquidWeb's datacenter; alongside NameHero (69.16.255.63 from your primary name server) This of course was not the domain / company information you used when you registered an account with us; nor was this review posted under the name in our system. With that said, I find it hard to believe any competing web host can give another web host a review without being biased. I know this is against Trust Pilot's user guidelines (which is why the review was flagged) as well as others out there. This is why you received a certified letter from us asking you to retract your statements. I couldn't even imagine what companies would say if I went and signed up with their services and started leaving them multiple 1-star reviews under an alias (using multiple accounts) across the Internet [regardless of my experience]. Further, your review complained about our payment policy, "I put in a request for a refund and they said it will take up to 30 DAYS to receive it. Who made up this policy???" but the ironic thing about this, you've copied this same policy directly from NameHero to your website https://Clockbackin.com/payment-policy (https://www.dropbox.com/s/jbnys5gfxdv7z5e/Screenshot%202019-04-14%2021.15.41.png?dl=0). You obviously saw the policy and liked it enough to use it for your own business. We strive for 10/10 customer service and support and I value this relationship over anything else we do at NameHero. * I went through the six phone calls placed to our team and listened to the recordings. * I also reviewed your ticket and chat history with us. During this review, I personally do not believe there was any instance where our support representatives were "rude" or "incompetent." All of the tickets were answered promptly without any response that indicated otherwise (you even rated one of the tickets 5/5 stars). I did see a ticket where you asked help uploading a file, it was completed for you, and when you mentioned issues with it, you failed to reply with credentials so we could investigate further. I personally find it hard to believe an owner of an established web hosting company, with hundreds of customers, would need help uploading a file. Regardless, we still assisted, but were not provided additional information to help troubleshoot. We would have been happy to do so! If this "messed it up completely" as you stated - why didn't you let us know so we could have fixed it? Finally, you never reached out to me or asked to speak with upper management before going out to multiple review websites and posting your "negative" experience. I even reached out via your last ticket letting you know we also refunded the $19.95/setup fee and would even refund your domains, but once again, you had no response. Looking at your [second] Trust Pilot account (https://www.trustpilot.com/users/5c7ec29f8b5c6006649ead4e) this isn't your first go around reviewing other web hosting companies (i.e. your competition). On March 5th 2019, you also gave first 2 host (dot) co (dot) uk a negative review (https://www.trustpilot.com/review/first2host.co.uk) advising people to take their business elsewhere: "They are so rude and it is just sad. Take your business elsewhere please." In your final public statement towards us you accuse us of "bulling," "harassing," and being "extremely shady." You are of course entitled to have your own opinion, but I can promise you and anyone else out there reading this, I would NEVER write a review about one of our competitors; not even you. That's just not my style. At this point, I'm not sure what else I can do to rectify this situation, as we've already provided you with a full refund. I guess I can also refund your domain registrations, but as stated this would de-activate them. We also just got new custom t-shirts made for our team; I'd be happy to send one of those to you! Feel free to let me know! Regardless of everything, you're entitled to your opinion, and I sincerely apologize if you feel that we did not live up to the customer service/satisfaction. I can assure you, we will use this as a learning situation, to continue working on improving each and everyday. What exactly are you trying to say about the terms of service? You are 100% CORRECT, I used namehero's terms of service as an outline. Why? Because I have just got started in the hosting industry and you also said here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8G31f9D8cHM&t=6109s that it was okay to use them. My problem is not the terms, it was the interpretation that your billing team had on them. Your response sounds like a ex girlfriend who is bitter and screenshots text messages and sends it to the new one. This thing about reviewing other hosting companies is also ridiculous. I used you for re seller hosting and had a terrible experience, so I am not allowed to give my opinion? You also screenshot another review I did, did you look at the other reviews on their page? Also from other resellers that had problems. Let me apologize Ryan, I hurt your ego clearly and so you spent all day doing a investigative report. NameHero is legit! Their customer service is the best I've experienced - no joke. However, any review website that says bluehost is a 9.2????? ::eyeroll:: I'm a NameHero believer and will stay there for a long, long time. Server response times are super fast. Website load times are really fast. And the list of features is just as long, if not longer, than all the big guys. Free SSL, lightspeed servers, and free Cloudflare w/Railgun. Can't beat it!

"The one thing that we didn’t like was the poor customer support. NameHero doesn’t include any live chat support. It provides sales support, but you’ll have to start a ticket for that." I don't understand this. We answer every single request we get. If you didn't get a response, it's likely you missed the email response. Since all tickets are logged in our system, provide me the email/domain and I'll provide that. "According to the customers, the technical support is also not up to the mark."
