Since 2001 when it was founded, PhotonVPS has been steadily growing and turning into a solid VPS hosting provider.
Growing fast in 2008, deploying over 500,000 virtualization containers in 2011, and launching its own datacenter in 2014, the Californian hosting provider doesn't seem to ever slow down.
What's even more, PhotonVPS has a solid backing. It's part of the Profuse Solutions INC., also running companies such as Psychz Networks and YardVPS. So it's fair to say that it has more than enough experience to offer a complete and brilliant VPS experience for pretty much anyone.
Or does it? Let's find out in this PhotonVPS review!
PhotonVPS offers a variety of different packages. These will suit both private and business users - the range of both resources and pricing is really diverse.
One of the most interesting packages comes in a form of a Forex hosting service, available on 4 separate server configurations. It's focused on supreme latency, as all Forex hosting should be.
And when it comes to regular VPS, PhotonVPS also has a few tricks up its sleeve.
All of the VPS packages - even the cheapest one! - use pure SSD storage, and there's 10 Gbps DDoS package included from the start. You can also choose a server location from 8 different countries, none of these locations will cost you extra.
Server monitoring is also provided in order to aid security, and customers are given the option of setting up their own data retention policy.
As for the support, well, they are available on a 24/7 basis, 365 days a year. Support can be contacted via the web interface or phone, and all inquiries are generally answered within 30 minutes.
Overall, I felt this was a feature-packed provider, which makes working with VPS as user-friendly as possible.
Although this provider offers both Windows and Linux solutions, I have only provided pricing for three of the Linux packages below:
SSD - X
SSD - 3
SSD - 5
$5.95 per month
$40.95 per month
$160.95 per month
cPanel/Plesk are not available on the cheapest VPS package, but are included for free on SSD-3 package and upwards.
For cheaper, $10.95/$20.95 packages it will cost $12/month extra to get that.
Despite this, PhotonVPS still looks seriously competitive, especially with a solid DDoS protection available for all of its users. It's a good value for money.
During my PhotonVPS review, I tested their server on Bitcatcha. You can see the results below:
It probably doesn't take a genius to see that the test was conducted using PhotonVPS' American server. It shows in the results, as the USA performance is very good - but elsewhere it falls down slightly.
Well, the good news is that there are 13 worldwide server locations to choose from: so you can choose the one closest to your visitors and get the best performance possible. Because when the servers are close, they're really good. Use that to your advantage.
Final Thoughts Of My PhotonVPS Review
Many other PhotonVPS reviews tend to have a mixed view on this provider. But really - there's not much to complain about. It's a decent value for money, and the worldwide server locations are a great bonus for users all across the globe.
With a wide variety of packages, all priced fairly, it could be a decent option for many types of users. And considering there's also a 30-day money-back guarantee for the services, you may even give it a shot.
