Vistaprint Website Builder Review
2019 October 2nd at 4:37
Vistaprint is a large printing and marketing company. However, it also has a website building toolkit that's intended to help first-time website owners easily design their own sites.
So is the Vistaprint website builder service just an afterthought or is it good enough to help your business make a beautiful website? This is what we're about to find out.
What is Vistaprint?
Vistaprint is a one-stop shop marketing service. Websites are just one of many promotional materials it can create for your business. Vistaprint also offers:
- Business Cards
- Promotional Clothes
- Photo Gifts
This is a Vistaprint website builder review, so why bother mentioning these other services at all? Because one major advantage of using the Vistaprint website designer is that it can access any branding material you upload to your Vistaprint account.
Essentially, with Vistaprint, you can ensure your website's look is consistent with your other marketing materials.
Vistaprint First Impressions
In the Vistaprint website builder, pages are built out of pre-made content blocks. To create a page, all you have to do is drag a block on to your screen, and it'll snap into place.
That's excellent for beginners, but advanced users may be frustrated by how little it's possible to modify the blocks themselves.
An Impressive Selection of Themes
I was pleased to see that, by my count, Vistaprint offers 1,000+ unique template designs templates.
Vistaprint's templates are beautifully built. However, they aren't as elegant or attractive as those of some competitor services such as Squarespace.
One advantage of Vistaprint's templates is that, if you prefer to create your own site from scratch, you're free to do so by using a blank template.
Thanks to the simple block editor, it's easier to make a completely original site in Vistaprint than with other website builders.
Reliable Customer Support
Customer support is available through live chat and over the phone during EST standard working hours.
During my tests, I found support representatives to be responsive. However, it did take a while to be put through to Vistaprint website builder specialist.
Ideal For Outsourcing Design
Vistaprint offers a bespoke design service through which you can employ an expert to design your website for you. It's more expensive than the standard website building package, but you don't have to pay until you're satisfied with the design.
Vistaprint Websites Pricing
Besides the custom design website package, which costs $26.24/month, Vistaprint offers three different site building plans. At the time of writing, all plans are discounted by 25% for the first term of the hosting contract.
The cheapest is the $3.74/month Starter plan. There's also a $13.94/month Standard plan and an $18.73/month Premium package. Every plan includes access to the site builder and unlimited pages.
Vistaprint Website Plans In More Detail
Let's take a closer look at those three packages:
|Number of Pages||Unlimited||Unlimited||Unlimited|
|Responsive to Mobile Browsers||Yes||Yes||Yes|
|Included Domain||Subdomain||Custom Domain||Custom Domain|
|Social Media Integration||No||No||Yes|
|Customer Support||Phone and Live Chat||Phone and Live Chat||Phone and Live Chat|
|Free Trial Period||30-Day||30-Day||30-Day|
It's disappointing that the Starter plan doesn't support a custom domain. Because it doesn't, the mid-range Standard package will be best for most customers. However, for large businesses, the Premium plan will be best, thanks to its support for eCommerce.
Vistaprint Website Builder Review: Final Thoughts
Overall, Vistaprint is an easy to use, but basic, website builder. It's a shame the website editor isn't more powerful, and that the Starter plan doesn't support custom domains, but it's still worth taking advantage of Vistaprint's 30-day trial to see if this is the right service for you.
