JotForm claims to be the 'easiest online form builder'. It was founded in 2006 and was one of the first What You See is What You Get (WYSIWYG) online form creator.
But many years later, we need to see - how well does this tool work today?

What is JotForm?
JotForm lets you create, publish and collect responses from online forms.
It offers an expansive range of templates that cover everything from 'Product Information' to 'Fancy Envelope Contact' forms.
In short, JotForm is a service designed to be used by anyone who needs to gather information from friends, customers or colleagues.
JotForm Review: First Impressions
Getting started with JotForm form was incredibly easy. Once I'd signed in with my Google account, all I had to do was select a form template design and begin adding my own information.
Intuitive Form Builder
The form creator is split into three sections: a 'Build' mode, a 'Settings' section and, finally, a 'Publish' screen.
I was certainly impressed with the WYSIWYG builder. The interface is modern, and you can drag input sections around to create whatever form layout you want.
Good Range of Third-Party Applications
In the 'Settings' menu, you can add a range of third-party apps, allowing you to integrate with services like Google Drive or Paypal.
These add a lot of value to the JotForm platform, as you can do things like automatically forward form responses to yourself via email.
I particularly liked the MailChimp integration option. It allows you to add respondees to different email lists.
The ability to send newsletters or important announcements to people who fill in your forms is a feature that will be appreciated by businesses trying to build a customer base.
Responsive to Different Devices
Often online forms don't look as good when viewed on mobile devices. I'm happy to report this isn't an issue with JotForm. You can even preview how your form will look when viewed on different displays.
Customer Support Could Be Improved
I would like to see JotForm add extra customer support contact options. At the time of writing, it's only possible to contact representatives through a ticket system. No phone or live chat support is offered.
Jotform offers a free plan and three paid tiers which cost between $15.83 and $82.50/month. The main difference between plans is the number of supported monthly submissions which ranges from 100 to 100,000.
Looking at the pricing, it looks a bit too steep for personal users. It's more of a solution aimed at businesses.
But of course, we also need to have a look at what can you get for your money.

Now, let's take an in-depth look at how the various packages stack up against one another. Note that I have displayed the annual billing prices, plans are significantly more expensive when billed monthly.

Unfortunately, the free Starter plan won't be suitable for most users. It only supports 100 monthly submissions which, for internal business or personal use, may be acceptable. However, I can't recommend it for conducting external business surveys.
For most business users, the Bronze package, which supports 1,000 monthly submissions, will be the best option. At $15.83/month, it is relatively expensive though. If you are gathering medical or payment information, make sure you use either the Silver or Gold packages as both come with HIPAA compliant storage.
As part of my JotFrom review, I tested how quickly my JotForm hosted survey loaded using Bitcatcha.
Speeds were acceptable; users shouldn't have a problem loading your forms. And since they're also fairly small, the load times are very small, too. Performance shouldn't be an issue.
Jotform Review - Final Thoughts
Overall, JotForm offers an impressive toolkit that allows novice users to create great looking forms.
Unfortunately, because of its high prices and lack of phone or live chat customer support, I cannot unreservedly recommend this service.
