Marketing via email is an incredibly cost-effective and intelligent form of marketing. It gives you full control over your content, as well as enabling you to contact your customers directly and if needed, discreetly. A great email marketing tool has to be incredibly useful, as it may help you reach all of your interested clients quickly and effectively. That’s why we decided to make a MailerLite review, to see what it is all about! It is always worth investing time and money just to have the best tools available. So, in this article, we will be taking a look at MailerLite – a tool, which may help you reach your greatest marketing goals! Formed in 2010 in Vilnius, Lithuania, MailerLite appears to be more than simply an automated email list service. You can’t reach any of those goals without the best web hosting though, so be sure to take the time to find the best one for you.
MailerLite is full of features
Drag & Drop – This encompasses all parts of content creation. You have a page builder/editor on hand to create the most beautiful popups, landing pages, forms or more, that you can imagine! “Build beautiful email newsletters with our Drag-and-Drop Editor. Fast and simple!”
Custom Code – A big thing for people serious about business who also happen to have coding knowledge. MailerLite allows you to build your content from the ground up, or alternatively, edit the existing templates. “We offer a variety of pre-designed email templates to help you deliver the best looking content”
Rich Text Editor – Rich text is similar to coding with HTML, except it shows exactly what you’re doing at the time. It’s a nice way for someone to have creative freedom without needing to know how to code! “Create simple text newsletters that are always readable on any device with our Rich Text Editor”
Free Newsletter Design Templates – If you’re pressed for time or you simply want designs that are pre-made by professionals, you can easily use one of MailerLite’s many free design templates! “We offer a variety or pre-designed email templates to help you deliver the best looking content!”
Built-In Photo Editor – Don’t have access to an image editing suite for your photos? MailerLite has you covered here! Whilst not the most full-featured editor, it’s still plenty for most users. “Crop, resize and edit photos using our built-in tools. No need to use another software to make your photos look good!”
File Manager – You can keep all of your assets on MailerLite’s system. No need to keep things on hand anymore! “Managing your files when creating email campaigns can be difficult. Our file manager makes the whole process a breeze!”
In order to really know how good MailerLite is, we have to investigate more. Let’s dive in a little deeper.
Starting your journey with MailerLite
When starting your MailerLite journey, you’ll be prompted to check out their plans first. There are a couple of options for you, take a look at the MailerLite pricing options:
Firstly there is the Forever Free Plan (Pictured above)
And secondly, there are Small Business Plans (Pictured above).
The free plan entitles you to unlimited emails per month, with up to 1000 subscribers (recipients of the emails). With the paid plans, you also get unlimited emails, the number of subscribers is what you pay for! The only thing that remains constant through all plans is the unlimited number of emails.
This is really cool! A lot of other AMS (Automated Mail Services) companies scale both subscribers and number of emails.
In this case, you can say MailerLite grows with you. As in, when you’re a small business with less than 1000 recipients, everything is completely free of charge.
However, if you find success in your projects, using either your own or MailerLite’s tools (or both!), some payments will be necessary. Hey, if you get to 2000 people waiting for your every post, $10 a month is perfectly brilliant.
In order to do this MailerLite review right, I registered to test out the services. After completing the simple sign up (Username, Password, Company name, etc), I found myself on the MailerLite dashboard. From here, the user can choose to create the masterpieces! Be they email campaigns, landing pages or pop-ups, MailerLite has you covered.
Before you get into it, however, you must complete some account approval steps. This is to ensure that the account will not be used for phishing or any type of spam. It only takes a couple of minutes to go through, so not a big deal. Also, it’s a good way to ensure that valuable MailerLite resources are not taken away from you.
So, how does MailerLite work?
I suppose I should begin the MailerLite review with the service the company is best known for – automated mail.
Automated mail works like this. Basically, you set up what’s known as a campaign, this campaign will include information that you need/want to convey to your readers/users/customers.
That could be promos, updates on your projects, invites to events, etc. Pretty standard stuff to be fair – but the more we look into the way MailerLite works, the more we can see the thought they have put into this.
Choosing a campaign type comes first. You have the choice between a regular campaign, an A/B split, auto resend, and RSS campaigns. If you’re unsure regarding the differences here, MailerLite has a really great knowledge base to help you out!
To begin with, you get three nice options when starting up with your campaign. A drag & drop editor, a rich text editor, and an HTML editor, too. This is cool, as it will cater to many users, from newbies to web developers, anyone can make a great looking template with MailerLite.
More used to something like Wix or Weebly: Drag-and-drop it is. Want some more freedom for a website you already own: Rich text. Have coding knowledge for days: Just generate your own HTML. You are not being pushed into picking an option, you have full freedom to pick what suits you best.
I went ahead and chose the drag & drop for the purposes of this article. And this is how it looks!
Starting simply by editing the header section, you can see that using MailerLite is very user-friendly!
It clear that there are plenty of content and design options here. Every time you add a module, you are able to edit it to your liking. You can change things like colours, fonts, placement and more – all to your liking. You can also edit images as you upload them.
The editing options are pretty extensive, you can change the colours, sharpness, saturation, the whole lot. Alternatively, you can choose the “Enhance” option, which will improve the picture automatically. I don’t know about you though, I personally think this picture is already perfect as it is, so I didn’t have a chance to use it. It’s probably the weirdest part of our MailerLite review, but let’s roll with it!
Moving on, swiftly, Mr. Potter.
After about 5 or 6 minutes of playing around with the designer, I created something I liked, so I went ahead and published it. This is how it turned out
Naturally, you can edit your registration forms any way you want to – and in MailerLite you can see how they will look on mobile devices as well. A simple addition, it’s still incredibly important, as plenty of people check emails on their smartphone nowadays.
All the buttons click well and something that’s really important for potential users is the fact that the unsubscribe button actually works. You’ve probably been in the same boat as me at some point, where you keep receiving emails that you don’t want, so you go ahead and click to unsubscribe.
However, how many times has that actually worked? Not that often, I’ve found. So this is great to see!
How well does MailerLite do when actually sending emails?
An important part of any review, and this MailerLite review is no different. Does the product work as described? In short: Yes! We used the Mail-Tester tool, which evaluates the score of an email being sent.
It checks things like SPAM rating, how fast the email arrives, if links are broken and a few more things which determine how good a mailing service is.
So all in all – this tool is a good test for MailerLite. And here’s how it did:
Perfect score! MailerLite ticked every single box possible and passed this testing with flying colors!
MailerLite support is brilliant
Any company is only as good as its support. So in this mini MailerLite review, I was very eager to go and test its support. How does this product perform here. I connected to the live chat with a non-typical question to see how they dealt with it.
My chat was connected to Miglė within 30 seconds. I asked if it was possible to get a simple URL embed code, for me to place into a sign-up form that I have already created.
And well, it worked! I followed the video tutorial, and simply took the code from MailerLite, threw it into my HTML page file and boom, works like a charm.
The whole support session was professional and friendly, not to mention fast! Also, it is worth mentioning, the chat is available all the time, for both registered and unregistered users. You also get to use a gif library. It’s useful for when using words simply doesn’t quite cut it.
Overall, it’s a very good experience, combining the previously-mentioned MailerLite knowledge base, good response times and a very lovely human factor. Great experience.
MailerLite compares well to the competition
Looking through our MailerLite review, you can see that MailerLite really does stand out in terms of simplicity – especially in user experience and user interface design. There are plenty of features for almost all of your needs. MailerLite does lack some advanced things that some of the competition includes, like advanced reporting or API integrations. However, for anything other than the most advanced and picky users, this shouldn’t be a problem at all.
We also have to keep in mind that for a free plan to cater to over 1000 subscribers and an unlimited number of emails is almost unheard of. Even if you get to the point with your business that the 1000 subscriber free plan isn’t enough for you, then as you’ve seen above, MailerLite’s pricing plans are incredibly fairly priced, too.
In addition, the “Forever Free” plan includes all the same features as the paid plans do (I didn’t have to pay a penny to make solid research for this MailerLite review!). The only thing you won’t have included in the paid plans is the small MailerLite logo at the bottom of any email you send out.
That shouldn’t be a problem – especially, considering that for what you get, a $10 paid plan still offers really decent value. But of course, no comparison with the competition can be completed without mentioning the elephan- er, monkey in the room.
MailerLite vs MailChimp
Despite the world going bananas for MailChimp, MailerLite is not monkeying around. When comparing MailerLite to the overlord of the industry that is MailChimp, you can see that the two have a lot of similarities. For starters, here are the plans MailChimp offers:
There is a “Forever Free” plan as well – however, MailChimp limits the number of emails you can send. Furthermore, the prices keep increasing in a far bigger fashion than MailerLite offers.
For 1500 subscribers, MailerLite charges $10 a month, while MailChimp charges 0 or 20, depending on how many emails you want to send.
For 2500 subscribers, MailerLite still charges $10 a month, while MailChimp now costs $30 a month.
The difference in mindsets here is staggering: both companies charge as you improve. Yet in a MailerLite vs MailChimp fight the latter wins, as it offers way bigger tiers – so you can better plan your finances as you won’t need to allocate additional dozens of dollars once your campaign gets an extra several hundred subscribers.
Another interesting thing I noticed in this MailerLite review here is support. I have attempted to do the same “HTML button link” trick in MailChimp. As a matter of fact, I was actually using this company for my own personal projects – and while I managed to eventually add a code to the existing newsletter button, the customer service wasn’t being as helpful. First things first, there is no actual live chat you can use.
See what I mean? There is a real lack of dedicated support from MailChimp. A lot of the stuff is covered via the knowledge base and the MailChimp community is pretty big, so there are enough tutorials and videos all over the internet. Yet still – it can’t match a dedicated video channel and customer service agents which help you all the way through.
Despite being way smaller than MailChimp, MailerLite matches its nemesis on features, offers more flexible pricing and takes it all with advanced customer support. A bigger community definitely helps MailChimp stay in the lead but they mustn’t rest on their laurels – MailerLite vs MailChimp is a very close battle. As a matter of fact, MailerLite is as good as anyone.
MailerLite Review – Is It Worth It?
Absolutely. You can’t really go wrong with MailerLite. It is suited for users of various goals and skill levels. Nearly every desired email marketing feature is included, the pricing is very competitive and if something goes wrong – there’s 24/7 chat support which responds in seconds.
There are so many competitors in the automated email game right now, so finding the best one can be tricky, but we think we found it in this MailerLite review! Check them out for yourselves and find out!
