Quality landing pages allow you to gather more leads and make more sales. They’re purpose-built pages made for customers and clients to land on - with the hope that they’ll take action.

This could include contacting your company, buying a product, watching a video, or whatever else you want it to be.

However, because you want viewers to click on your call to action, it’s important you make your landing pages engaging and attractive.

So, to help you with this, I’ve created this tutorial on how to create a WordPress landing page using the Beaver Builder plugin. I’ve chosen this method because it’s simple, free, and integrates directly into your WordPress site.

Below you will find the step-by-step guide to creating a WordPress landing page:

  1. Determine what you want your landing page to achieve
  2. Install the Beaver Builder plugin on your WordPress website
  3. Activate the plugin
  4. Create a new page from your WordPress dashboard
  5. Get acquainted with the various features Beaver Builder has to offer
  6. Publish your landing page

1. Determine What You Want Your Landing Page to Achieve

A landing page needs to have a clear call-to-action. You want the design of your page to stand out so that it encourages your visitors to click on that call-to-action. However, the only way to do this is to first determine what you want your page to achieve.

For example, if the whole point of your page is to encourage viewers to watch a video, it won't have the same design as a page created to encourage customers to contact you. With this in mind, your landing page needs to have your main goal as a focal point. It should be user-friendly, clear, engaging, and concise.

2. Install the Beaver Builder Plugin on Your WordPress Website

While determining your landing page's clear goal might be time-consuming, learning how to create a landing page in WordPress is simple and quick.

The first step is to install the Beaver Builder plugin, a WordPress landing page builder. You can achieve this from your WordPress dashboard.

All you have to do is click on “Plugins” followed by “Add New”. Then, type “Beaver Builder” in the search box. The Beaver Builder plugin should be the first one that appears on the page. To install this WordPress landing page plugin, simply select “Install Now”.

3. Activate the Plugin

Once the installation is complete, you need to activate your plugin to start creating landing pages. To do this, click “Activate. Alternatively, you can go to the “Installed Plugins” section of your dashboard. All you have to do from there is find the Beaver Builder plugin in the list and click “Activate”.

When the plugin is active, it will appear at the bottom of your dashboard. This means that you can start creating your landing pages. Please note that this is the free version of the plugin. By clicking on “Beaver Builder” in your dashboard followed by “Upgrade”, you can find out more about premium features.

4. Create a New Page from Your WordPress Dashboard

Now that you’ve downloaded and activated the plugin, you can create your first landing page. The first step is to create a basic page on your website. You can do this by clicking on “Pages” followed by “Add New” on your WordPress dashboard.

Once you get to the editor, you’ll be given the choice to create a standard page or make one using the plugin by clicking “Launch Beaver Builder”.

The first time you use Beaver Builder, you’ll be asked whether you want a tour of the tools. I highly recommend you take this tour so that you become familiar with all the plugin’s features. With it, you’ll learn all the basics so that you can create high-converting landing pages quicker.

5. Get Acquainted With the Features Beaver Builder Has to Offer

Beaver Builder has a drag-and-drop layout so you can add various features to your landing pages very easily. You can find these features by clicking the “+” sign on the top right-hand side of the page. There, you’ll be able to choose between Modules, Rows, and Templates (although the templates are only available with paid a subscription).

From the “Modules” menu, you’ll be able to add audio and video files as well as photos. You’ll also be able to add HTML or insert a text editor into your page. This is also where you can find the option to add a sidebar.

In the “Rows” menu, you’ll be able to choose the number of columns you’d like to add to your page. Here you can add up to six columns depending on what your landing page goals are.  Additionally, this is where you can decide where you want your sidebar to be. You can choose between a left or right-hand sidebar, or you can add one to each side of your page.

The final option is to choose a template. While this is a paid feature, using one will save you time in the long run as you’ll already have a professionally designed page ready to add content to. Better yet, you can customize these templates to meet your needs.

6. Publish Your Landing Page

Once you finalized your landing page design, you have a few different options when it comes to publishing it. However, before you do this, it’s important you see a preview of your page in case it needs edits. You can do this by clicking on the Beaver Builder logo on the top left-hand side of your page.

From there, select “Preview Layout”. This will show you the same version of the page that your audience will see.

If you see that the page still needs edits, simply click on “Continue Editing”.

When you’re happy with your page, go back to the menu and click “Publish Layout”.

You can also change the UI brightness and make changes to the general settings of the page by clicking on “Global Settings”.

Also, if you want to make your way back to the main WordPress dashboard, select “WordPress Admin” followed by “Dashboard”.

Additional Steps You Can Take After Creating a WordPress Landing Page

Now that you’ve created your landing page, it’s time to check its performance. You can do this with an analytics tool. Here, you have the choice of integrating Google Analytics into your site or installing another plugin. I use the Google Analytics Dashboard plugin for WordPress by MonsterInsights. Here’s how to install and use it:

  1. Click on “Plugins” on your WordPress dashboard
  2. Select “Add New”
  3. Search for MonsterInsights (it should be the first plugin on the list)
  4. Click on “Install Now”
  5. Select “Activate”
  6. Answer all the questions to complete the installations
  7. Click on “Finish Setup & Exit Wizard”

Once your viewers start flowing in, you’ll be able to track your websites progress from the “Reports” tab within your “Insights” menu.
