Buffered VPN Review – Secure or Not?

Buffered VPN is one of the biggest names in the market. The company claims to provide high-speed web browsing and industry-leading data protection, but is this really the case?

In my Buffered VPN review, I’ll take a look at this popular VPN product to see if it’s the perfect solution for your VPN needs. Let’s find out!

How Safe is Buffered VPN?

Safety is critical if you want your VPN to protect your data from prying eyes. I don’t like to work with VPN providers that log data or share information with governments – it doesn’t keep browsing safe.

Buffered VPN headquarters are in Gibraltar – a British overseas territory that benefits from a unique legal jurisdiction. While at first glance this appears positive, Gibraltar’s association with the UK makes me uneasy. The UK is part of the Fourteen Eyes Jurisdiction; a data sharing arrangement between most major Western countries.

Although Gibraltar is not subject to UK’s Digital Economy laws, they can still be pressured enough to make Buffered VPN give the information away.

But it’s not just Buffered VPN’s jurisdiction that you need to worry about…

On top of this, Buffered VPN’s no-logging claim is also up for debate. A look at their privacy policy indicates they do store personal data, including your IP address.

So, is Buffered VPN safe? I can’t recommend Buffered as a safe VPN product – their jurisdiction and logging policy are both worrying. Although the company says it’s only for “troubleshooting purposes”, anything can happen.

Buffered VPN Speed Test

While VPNs typically slow browsing and download speed, the best services only have a slight impact on your web capabilities. My speed test revealed promising results for Buffered’s speed rating.

Without a VPN turned on, my web connection clock upload and download speeds of around 70-80 Mbps.

The US servers on Buffered VPN provided a download speed of 50.9MB and an upload speed of 34.2MB.

That’s not bad. While Buffered VPN speed isn’t as fast as some of the industry leaders, their servers provide plenty of power for downloading and uploading.

Buffered VPN Netflix Capabilities

netflix not supportedWhile some use VPNs for safety, others are more concerned about unlocking geo-locked content. Using overseas Netflix content is a huge benefit associated with good VPN providers.

While other Buffered VPN reviews say the company is a Netflix-friendly service, my tests concluded that Netflix detected Buffered VPNs software. Buffered VPN Netflix capabilities are not reliable enough to ensure seamless streaming of geo-locked content.

Does Buffered VPN Support Torrenting?

torrents workIf you’re looking to torrent content using a VPN provider, it’s best to work with a company that openly supports peer-to-peer traffic. Fortunately, Buffered VPN is a provider that openly allows torrenting on their servers.

While downloading & uploading speeds aren’t particularly great, torrenting with Buffered VPN is entirely possible. So if you are looking to go past a certain torrenting restriction, this service will work like a charm!

Buffered VPN Pricing

Finding a VPN provider within your budget is essential. Does Buffered VPN provide affordable price points for consumers?

You can purchase Buffered VPN’s services in three different packages: monthly, bi-annually, and annually. The longer the package, the cheaper the per month cost will be.

For monthly Buffered VPN package, you pay $9.99 a month; for bi-annually, you pay $59.94 for 6 months; and for annually, you pay $99 for 13 months. An extra month is added to the annual package to provide additional value.

PeriodPrice
Monthly$9.99
Every 6 Months$59.94
Every 13 months$99

Buffered VPN is reasonably priced when compared to the market.

While Buffered VPN doesn’t provide a free trial, they do provide customers with a 30-day money-back guarantee. So, If you’re unhappy with their service for any reason, you can request a full refund.

Is Buffered VPN Any Good?

While their service is popular with many consumers, is Buffered VPN good? Their servers are fast, and their product is easy-to-use, but there are many worrying aspects of their platform.

Their jurisdiction and logging policy aren’t good enough to ensure safety. Also, my Buffered VPN review concluded their servers were often detected by Netflix – unlocking overseas content isn’t guaranteed.

Overall, I wouldn’t recommend you use Buffered VPN is you’re looking for a serious VPN service. Luckily, there are a lot of other options – the people looking for the best VPN service are spoiled for choice.
